Huge get: DE Giddins picks Bulls over Gators
Two days after Florida won a national championship, USF has pulled a major recruiting coup, beating out the Gators and getting an oral commitment from Armwood defensive end Ryne Giddins.
"Why not?" Giddins told the Times' Keith Niebuhr on Saturday night after committing during an official visit to USF. "I felt more comfortable at USF. I felt the love."
Giddins, 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, said he enjoyed a recent visit to Florida, but felt more at home with the Bulls. The two-time Times Defensive Player of the Year is rated a four-star recruit by both major recruiting services and is ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 2 pass-rushing defensive end and the No. 61 overall recruit in the nation.
He joins a defensive line that returns three starters. He'll compete for the starting role opposite All-American George Selvie.
