No. 1 Huskies in control, up 45-26 at half

From the Something's Got to Give Department: USF and Connecticut came into this game first and second nationally in average margin of victory, so basically, one of those two wasn't going to win by 32 tonight.

The top-ranked Huskies are very much in control at the half, leading USF 45-26 and holding all the Bulls' top scorers in check. The more intriguing matchup right now is to see whether UConn All-American Maya Moore can outscore the Bulls all by herself. With four minutes left in the half, it was notted up at 18-18. Moore has 20 at the half, already passing her average per game.

USF's big three scorers -- guards Shantia Grace, Jazmine Sepulveda and Janae Stokes -- did not score in the first 13 minutes, and did not hit a field goal until 3:35 remained in the half. Grace hit back-to-back 3-pointers -- she and Porche Grant have the team lead with eight points -- but the game is already out of reach for the Bulls. Center Tina Charles has 12 points and nine rebounds in the first half for UConn.
