Seabrook drafted by MLS' Rapids in fourth

USF forward Jordan Seabrook was selected by the Colorado Rapids on Thursday in the fourth and final round of the MLS SuperDraft.

Five other players with Tampa area connections were drafted -- the University of Tampa's Ryan Maxwell was picked by New England with the final pick of the first round, as was Tampa native and Bradenton Academy star Jeremy Hall, who played at Maryland and was taken with the 11th pick by the New York Red Bulls.

Former Clearwater star Brian Shriver, a forward at North Carolina, went in the second round to FC Dallas, Wharton and James Madison midfielder Nick Zimmerman went in the third round to the Red Bulls and Ridgewood standout Richard Jata, who played collegiately at Campbell, was drafted in the fourth round by the Chicago Fire.

One of Seabrook's USF teammates, defender Yohance Marshall, had been projected as a likely pick but was not drafted. He said Thursday night he would now consider his options, including playing overseas.
