The latest candidate to interview for and be offered USF's defensive coordinator job is Colorado secondary coach and longtime NFL assistant Greg Brown, according to a report from Colorado sports site Buffalosportsnews.net.

The site reported that Brown interviewed with USF coach Jim Leavitt on Friday and had been offered the job, but had not accepted it as of late Friday night. He was due into Colorado on a flight late Friday and did not return calls seeking comment.

Brown, a Colorado native, has been the Buffaloes' defensive backs coach the past three seasons, after spending 15 years as an NFL assistant with five different teams. His first NFL job was with the Bucs from 1984-86, first as a quality control assistant and as the H-backs and tight ends coach in 1986. Here's a link to his bio page on Colorado's official site.

Brown is at least the fourth coach to interview for the coordinator job that came open when Wally Burnham resigned to take the same job at Iowa State last week. Illinois assistant Dan Disch was offered the job but declined to stay at Illinois, and Nebraska linebackers coach Mike Ekeler and former Cincinnati defensive coordinator Joe Tresey have also interviewed. Leavitt has interviewed former Rutgers secondary coach Chris Demarest about his open defensive backs coach job.
