Senior guard Jesus Verdejo, USF's second-leading scorer and top 3-point shooter, could miss his final two home games in the next four days because of lingering injuries to his right foot.

Verdejo, who has been limited by a painful condition called plantar fasciitis, was diagnosed Friday with a bruised talus bone in his ankle. He did not practice with the team Friday and is wearing a protective boot; USF coach Stan Heath said he is "doubtful" for Sunday's home game against West Virginia, but could return to play in his final home game Tuesday against Cincinnati.

"He's doubtful for Sunday, but after that he's day-to-day," said Heath, giving him a 50-50 chance to play in the regular-season finale at Rutgers, as well as the Big East tournament, which starts March 10.

Verdejo was held out of USF's game Saturday at No. 1 Connecticut, and was limited by the injury in losses to Georgetown last week and Seton Hall on Wednesday, failing to score in both games. Freshman guard Justin Leemow has played considerably more in Verdejo's absence, but he is 0-for-15 from the field in the past six games. Heath said he'll also consider starting freshman forward Eladio Espinosa against West Virginia to give the Bulls a bigger starting lineup.
