Coach: Famous 'definitely enjoyed' USF visit

How, you ask, did this past weekend's official campus visit go for Jarrid Famous, the 6-foot-11 center from Westchester (N.Y.) Community College?

"He definitely enjoyed it," Westchester assistant coach Tyrone Mushatt said Tuesday morning, leaving open the possibility that Famous will take visits to Xavier, Villanova or Houston before making a decision.

One thing Famous liked about his visit to USF was a family aspect -- a grandmother, aunt and uncle all live close enough in Florida that they stopped by campus Saturday and watched a pickup game with USF players. Famous has also visited Missouri and Seton Hall, and the remaining schools could still be a factor -- Xavier has been recruiting him a long time, Villanova has the buzz of a Final Four run (or more) and Houston has a coach with solid New York ties in Tom Penders.

There are no campus visits this weekend, with all eyes on the Final Four, but USF will have official visitors the next two weekends, with Oak Hill (Va.) small forward Glenn Bryant and College of Southern Idaho power forward Daequon Montreal due in the weekend of April 10 (immediately before the spring signing period starts) and LaPorte (Ind.) La Lumiere center Sandi Marcius due in April 17.

Another name we've mentioned a lot, Polk Community College center Quincy Hankins, committed to Nebraska after an official visit to Lincoln, according to the Big East Report blog. USF hadn't exactly rushed to set up an official visit to Hankins after being an early leader, so it seems the Bulls either went in another direction and/or had apprehensions about his academics.
