Midweek woes: Baseball falls 9-5 at UCF

As dominant as USF has been in the Big East, with a 15-3 record and three-game lead in the conference standings, they have been remarkably ordinary in midweek games against non-league opponents.

Such was the case again Tuesday, as the Bulls (27-16), fresh off a three-game sweep of West Virginia, took a 9-5 loss at Central Florida; the two teams will meet again Wednesday night in Tampa. USF drops to 12-13 in nonconference play this season.

The Bulls met the Tigers in Tampa earlier this season and took a 4-1 loss, with the three singles losses all in straight sets.

-- Former USF quarterback Grant Gregory finished his visit to Kansas State, and everything points to him transferring into graduate classes there and competing for their starting quarterback job in the fall. Here's an update from the Topeka Capital-Journal.

-- OK, sometimes I'll just post so I don't have the "Midday Report" leading my blog overnight. I admit it.
