Selvie to be held out of USF spring game

All-American defensive end George Selvie won't play in Saturday's spring football game, with coach Jim Leavitt not wanting to risk injury to a rising senior whose play is certainly a known commodity.

Leavitt said senior quarterback Matt Grothe won't be "live" -- meaning he can't be tackled, as was the case in last year's game, again, just as a protective measure to safeguard against potential injuries. Leavitt said he may allow backup quarterbacks B.J. Daniels and Evan Landi to take hits later in Saturday's game.
