USF outfielder Ryan Lockwood, who suffered through a sophomore slump this spring after earning freshman All-America honors in 2008, will play for the Bourne Braves in the prestigious Cape Cod League this summer.

Lockwood, who as a third-year player is draft eligible next month, is now listed on the Bourne roster, which will give him wooden-bat experience against other top college players. Lockwood, who was Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's 2008 Freshman Player of the Year after putting together a 32-game hitting streak, saw his batting average drop to .289 as a sophomore, with 33 RBIs and 44 runs.

There's a strong Big East presence on the Bourne roster -- Connecticut's Pierre LePage and Dan Mahoney, Louisville's Josh Richmond and Paul Karmas of St. John's are also committed to play for the Braves.

Other Big East players committed to the Cape: West Virginia's Jedd Gyorko and Tobias Streich will play for Brewster, Notre Dame's Evan Danielli, Steve Mazur and Matt Grosso with Falmouth, Notre Dame's Brian Dupra with Harwich, Notre Dame's Cole Johnson and Eric Maust with Hyannis, Rutgers' Casey Gaynor, Jaren Matthews and Michael Lang and Connecticut's Michael Olt and Elliot Glynn with Orleans, and Louisville's Gabriel Shaw and Dean Kiekhefer and Connecticut's George Springer, Dusty Odenbach, Matt Barnes and David Fischer with Wareham.
