Hope everyone had a great weekend and happy Father's Day -- now catching up on notes from USF's "SuperBull" recruiting event Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium.

-- Here's exactly what Bradenton Manatee quarterback Brion Carnes said about his oral commitment to USF and the interest he's drawing from other top-tier schools: "I'm hearing from other schools, but South Florida is my No. 1 school. I love the atmosphere, Coach (Jim) Leavitt, Coach (Mike) Canales, my recruiting coach, Coach (Carl) Franks. South Florida is my No. 1 school, but like I said, I've got other schools talking to me and communicating with me."

He named Clemson, West Virginia and Georgia as other schools he's talking with. So given that communication, does he consider himself a USF commitment? "Yes. I am verbally committed to South Florida. I may look at other schools, but for right now, I am verbally committed to South Florida."

That's not exactly emphatic, so how does Leavitt feel about your openness to listening to other schools? "We had a talk, and we have an understanding about the situation. He was real calm about it. It's a verbal commitment."

We asked Carnes about his Manatee teammate and cousin, receiver Ace Sanders, also a top target for the Bulls and in attendance Saturday night. "He's kind of wide-open, right now. I'm working on him, I'm working on him."

-- Lots of quarterback news to get to from Saturday night, but first, a few words with Tampa Catholic's Christian Green, believed to be the top quarterback on USF's list. Green's father, Hiram Green, who played basketball at USF and has worked in both the athletic department and now as USF's director of community relations, talked extensively with Leavitt and other USF administrators.

"I think it went real good -- I learned a lot of things, and there are a lot of things I have to work on," said Green, one of seven quarterbacks in attendance. Green has been to Florida's camp and plans to go to Florida State and Georgia's -- those are in his final six, with USF, Tennessee and Ohio State.

"I'm trying to narrow it down," Green said. "I'm trying to weigh my options out."

What does he like about USF? "First of all, I'm from Tampa, grew up here," he said. "I grew up a season-ticket holder, go to most of their home games and have since I was little. I know a lot about the program. My dad works here, my god-daddy (Lee Roy Selmon) works here, a lot of people that I know. I grew up around the program."

On what help him make a decision by the end of summer: "Hopefully, I just go where I feel comfortable, where I feel best. Hopefully I stay close to home, but if it's somewhere else that I feel most comfortable, that's where I'll go."

USF is recruiting him as a quarterback, at the position he plays at Tampa Catholic, but his other top schools see him as a receiver. "I like receiver. I want to play receiver in college, but South Florida gave me a chance at quarterback and I've tried to take advantage of that a little bit. I'd like to play wide receiver, but quarterback, in a system like this, to play quarterback here wouldn't be bad."
