Returner Hornes, kicker Schwartz join Bulls
First-year USF defensive coordinator Joe Tresey was a guest on Bright House Sports Network last week, and the station was kind enough to send me an audio file of the six-minute interview. A few highlights:
On the parity of the Big East this fall: "The Big East, as far as a BCS conference, probably has more parity from top to bottom than any other conference. I think it was evident last year. Now that they lost (West Virginia quarterback) Pat White, you've lost (Rutgers receiver Kenny) Britt, lost (Pitt running back LeSean) McCoy, the three top marquee players supposedly in the conference, I think it's a wide-open deal."
On the benefits of having All-American defensive end George Selvie:
"George is a heck of a football player. The thing that George brings
more than anything, since I've been here, is he's got great leadership
on and off the field. He's a Bull through and through. He has no ego.
He's a team player the whole way. It's never about George. He works
every day as hard as he can trying to get better every rep, every snap.
That carries over to the rest of the team and the younger guys. When
you have a guy who has had the accolades that George has received and
doesn't put himself above the team or the program, it's very important."
