Eleven of USF's returning baseball players took part in various college summer leagues, and it seemed a good time to check in on how they're faring against their college peers.

Todd Brazeal, Staunton, Valley Baseball League: After a breakout year as a redshirt freshman, Brazeal has continued his strong hitting this summer in Virginia, where he is batting .313, with a team-best six home runs and 29 RBIs, which ranks second on the team. He's also 8-for-9 on stolen bases.

Andrew Longley, Covington, VBL: With Trey Manz graduated, Longley will compete with Daniel Rockhold for the primary catching duties next spring. He's hitting .306, ranks second on the Lumberjacks with four home runs, and also has 13 RBIs in 72 at-bats.

Trey Dahl, Clermont, Florida Collegiate Summer League: Dahl, a left-hander from Land O'Lakes, redshirted his first season with USF, but has played well in Clermont, with a 3-1 record and a 3.55 ERA. He has 32 strikeouts against just 12 walks, and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning in his last start.

Kyle Eastham, Geneva, New York Collegiate Baseball League: Eastham hasn't pitched too much, but in three outings and 6.2 innings, he's yet to give up an earned run. He's 1-0, with opponents hitting .240 against him.

Doug Wagner, Woodstock, VBL: Wagner has pitched well out of the River Bandits' bullpen, with a 1-1 record and 2.35 ERA in nine outings totaling 7.2 innings. He has twice as many strikeouts (12) as walks (6) and is holding opponents to a .222 average.

Matt Reed, Covington, VBL: Reed has a 1-1 record with a solid 3.38 ERA, with 12 strikeouts against just four walks.

Adrian Puig, Luray, VBL: Puig, like Dahl, redshirted as a freshman this past year. He's 3-2 with a 5.93 ERA, with 18 strikeouts and nine walks.

Stephen Hunt and Jonathan Koscso, Woodstock, VBL: Two of USF's biggest hitters from last season have posted nearly identical numbers for the River Bandits. Hunt is hitting .245 with one home run and 11 RBIs; Koscso is hitting .241 with one home run and 12 RBIs.

Ryan Lockwood, Harwich, Cape Cod League: Lockwood was the only Bulls player playing in the prestigious Cape league, but he went there on a trial contract, and was done after only five games. Lockwood hit .176 with the Mariners, with three singles in 17 at-bats and four RBIs. He's since come back to Tampa and is training with his USF teammates.

Luis Llerena, Staunton, VBL: Llerena, who sat out last season after transferring from Manhattan College, is hitting .125 for the Braves, with six hits in 48 at-bats and five RBIs.
