Basketball preview: Optimism for USF
The Times' college basketball season preview is in Sunday's paper, so we have some links to share -- first, our main Bulls preview for the men, along with our women's preview as well.
-- One small break for Stan Heath's team, as Virginia starting center Assane Sene has been suspended from the first three games, which means he won't play in the Cavaliers' game at USF.
-- Since USF was No. 26 in last week's Associated Press top 25, it's hard to imagine the Bulls not moving into the rankings after a few losses this weekend. Notre Dame will fall out of the top 25, and Cal will as well unless Oregon State loses a 17-point lead. Not sure how far Houston will fall if the Cougars take a second loss to an unranked team, but USF should be in the 22-23 range ...
