USF men open with 67-61 road win at SMU

NOVEMBER 13, 2009

USF has opened Stan Heath's third season with a big 67-61 win at Southern Methodist in Dallas -- here's our story from Times correspondent Rick Mauch.

Sophomore forward Gus Gilchrist set a career high with 23 points and added nine rebounds, showing his progress from his freshman year. Dominique Jones scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half.

The Bulls went 1-6 in nonconference play away from Tampa last season, so it's important that they set the tone by opening with a road win. Here's the in-game chat from USF's official site for more information.
