Beef O'Brady's to sponsor St. Petersburg Bowl
Beef O'Brady's, the chain of family sports restaurants known for sponsoring youth sports leagues, is moving up to bigger things, as new title sponsor of the St. Petersburg Bowl.
The Dec. 19 game at Tropicana Field will announce the sponsorship at a news conference at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Petersburg Pier. The sponsorship comes just 10 days before kickoff, but the parent company, Family Sports Concepts, has signed a multiyear deal with the bowl for at least one more season.
The game, which is owned and operated by ESPN Regional, was sponsored in its first season by magicJack, a phone-over-Internet product that opted not to return for the game's second season. Family Sports Concepts operates more than 260 Beef O'Brady's locations in 23 states.
This year's game will feature a pair of 8-4 team in Rutgers and Central Florida. Head coaches Greg Schiano and George O'Leary will be in St. Petersburg on Wednesday to meet with local media about the game.
