Bulls in the Pros: CFL's Green signs with Jets
Trying to catch up on former USF players in the professional ranks, and I got confirmation Sunday night that receiver S.J. Green, who has spent the last three seasons in the Canadian Football League, signed with the New York Jets last month.
Green had his best season in 2009 with theGrey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes, catching 15 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns, all better totals than his first two CFL seasons combined. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound receiver is the third Bulls player to get a look with the Jets in the past year -- receiver Huey Whittaker and linebacker Craig Kobel were in Jets camp last summer.
Green's signing was reported in Canada, but hasn't been mentioned in any U.S. newspapers. He joins two other former Bulls who have signed free-agent contracts in the past two months -- receiver Taurus Johnson is now with the Miami Dolphins, and cornerback Trae Williams signed with the Steelers.
