Marvin Kloss, a kicker from Naples Barron Collier who made an official visit to USF two weeks ago but did not get a scholarship offer, is considering walking on with the Bulls, his high school coach said.

"He has the idea that he's going to kick in state of Florida for a BCS school," said Barron Collier coach Mark Ivey, who talked with USF coach Skip Holtz on Friday. "He's an unbelieveable kicker, and wherever he goes, within a year or two, he's going to be a starter. He likes South Florida very, very much."

Kloss, rated as the nation's No. 1 kicker by the Kornblue Kicking School, is also talking with Florida about walking on with the Gators and may visit the Gainesville campus next weekend, Ivey said. Kloss' grades are strong enough that he'll qualify for the Bright Futures Scholarship at either school.

USF will have three kicking specialists on scholarship this fall -- sophomore Maikon Bonani, the team's primary kicker in 2008, and sophomore Justin Brockhaus-Kann and true freshman Chris Veron, who will compete for the punting job. The Bulls also have senior walk-on Eric Schwartz, who excelled in stepping in for the injured Bonani this past season. Kloss' leg is strong enough that he could compete for kickoff duties, even as a freshman walk-on.
