All-Big East: Andrea Smith 1st team, Andrell 2nd
USF senior guard Andrea Smith is one of three unanimous selections to the All-Big East first team, the league announced Thursday.
Smith, who bounced back from a season lost to knee surgery by leading the team in scoring, was the only Bulls player among 12 honored on the all-conference first team. Her twin sister, Andrell Smith, was one of 10 players on the second team, and freshman forward Alisia Jenkins, among the conference's rebound leaders, was named to the 10-player All-Freshman Team.
The Bulls, who finished in a three-way tie for sixth in the conference standings, open play in the Big East tournament in Hartford at 2 p.m. Saturday against ninth-seeded Rutgers, with the winner advancing to face top-seeded Notre Dame on Sunday.
