Bulls' flight home delayed...all night
HOUSTON -- On a night when USF's offense finally got off the ground, its airplane couldn't.
The Bulls remained at Houston's William P. Hobby Airport throughout the night due to mechanical problems with their charter flight back to Tampa. USF spokesman Brian Siegrist said the team spent all of Friday's wee hours on one plane waiting for a new one to arrive.
The Bulls' 35-23 loss to Houston at Reliant Stadium ended at 10:21 p.m. EST Thursday. In a text message to the Tampa Bay Times, Coach Willie Taggart indicated the team was finally set to depart Friday at approximately 7:30 a.m. EST -- nine hours later.
Its plane landed back in Tampa at approximately 9:15 a.m. EST.
"A little adversity," Taggart texted. "After tonight's game there is nothing we can't handle. I guess that is what Halloween does for the Bulls."
