Bulls men likely bound for 8-9 game at AAC tourney

Barring a Tulane upset of American Athletic Conference front-runner Temple on Sunday, USF will play in the 8-9 game Thursday afternoon in the AAC tournament in Orlando.

The tournament schedule can be found here. The Bulls (7-23, 4-13) would face East Carolina, which coasted past them, 52-39, on their senior night Wednesday. USF topped ECU, 69-52, on the road Feb. 16.

A Tulane upset of Temple, coupled with a Bulls loss Saturday at Tulsa, relegates USF to the No. 10 seed. It would then face seventh-seeded UCF at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Amway Center.

In that scenario, Tulane and USF would finish with identical 4-14 league records and a split of their season series. Based on the conference's tie-break procedure, Tulane would move to the 8-9 game because of a win against the AAC's No. 1 seed (Temple). The Bulls were swept by Temple.

ECU also can finish 4-14 with a loss at home Sunday to Memphis, but the Pirates own a victory against Temple as well, keeping them in the 8-9 contest.

USF can clinch the No. 8 seed with a victory Saturday, combined with losses by Tulane and East Carolina on Sunday.
