Bulls snag QB commitment from Class of '15
Those familiar with this forum know our stance on verbal commitments, but the one USF received Tuesday at least warrants a mention.
It arrived, after all, from a quarterback - with an interesting under-center ancestry, no less.
Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward rising senior Brett Kean (6-foot-1 1/2, 205 pounds) gave his pledge to the Bulls two days after participating in the Willie Taggart QB Camp on campus. Kean told the Tampa Bay Times he had more than a dozen offers including Air Force, Ohio, Western Kentucky, FIU and Toledo.
Lauded for his intelligence and footwork, Kean spent the early part of his prep career playing behind current Bulls starter Mike White at Fort Lauderdale University. In his first season as a starter at St. Edward, he finished 180-for-300 for 2,810 yards and 32 TDs, leading the Eagles (11-2) to the playoffs and national-ranking recognition.
He said a handful of factors -- from the Bulls coaches to the environment to the overall "situation" -- influenced his decision.
His commitment, of course, is non-binding. Kean, believed to be USF's third commitment from the Class of 2015, can't sign until February.
Here's some hudl footage of Kean.
