Bulls women sign Hungarian star
Six-foot-2 F Dorottya Nagy, a member of several age-group Hungarian national teams in recent years, has signed with USF after reportedly committing to the Bulls earlier this spring.
The school confirmed Nagy's signing Wednesday. She becomes the seventh European player on the Bulls' 2016-17 roster. USF also previously signed Denmark standout Enna Pehadzic.
Nagy, who recently completed her third season with a club team in Hungary's highest Division, is listed as Europe's No. 1 recruit by Blue Star Hoops Europe and Passion Hoops. ESPNW’s Dan Olsen ranks Nagy as No. 32 in his Collegiate Girls Basketball Reports.
She visited USF in early March and was believed to have narrowed her college choices to USF and California.
"I'm very excited to be adding a high-caliber student-athlete to our family," Bulls coach Jose Fernandez said in a USF news release. "I think she is a great fit for our program both academically and athletically and I'm excited about her versatility on both ends of the court."
Nagy averaged 9.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists at the FIBA U17 World Championships. A stern defender with excellent shooting range, she most recently played for Hungary's senior national team, which competed in the 2017 EuroBasket Qualifiers in Iceland.
