After loss, Bulls baseball on outside looking in

USF baseball took a 6-5 loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday night, and with Seton Hall rallying to beat Georgetown 3-2 in 11 innings, the Bulls now find themselves one game behind the Pirates for the final spot in next week's Big East tournament.

With just two games left in the regular season, the Bulls (23-29, 11-14) need to win one more game than Seton Hall (27-23, 12-13) does -- they no longer control their destiny as it relates to playing in Clearwater. USF has lost seven Big East games in a row -- on Thursday, the Bulls were staked to a 4-0 lead, only to see the Panthers rally, helped by three Bulls errors.

The logjam in the middle of the Big East standings only got tighter Thursday -- there is a single game separating fourth-place Cincinnati with eighth-place Seton Hall, with five teams between 13-12 and 12-13 in the conference standings. USF is just a game behind that logjam, but the Bulls need to win at least one game to make it to Clearwater. A Seton Hall win and USF loss Friday would eliminate the Bulls from that possibility.
