Another big one: Plant City WR Wiggins picks USF
Usually, a week like USF football has had in recruiting has to happen right before signing day, but the Bulls are getting it done in June, picking up a third key commitment in the past five days as Lamarlin Wiggins, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound receiver from Plant City, committed for 2012 on Tuesday morning.
Wiggins, rated as the nation's No. 18 receiver and a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, joins North Marion tight end Sean Price and Gainesville cornerback Chris Bivins in choosing the Bulls. Scout.com has him as a three-star recruit, and he's the first Hillsborough County prospect of USF's seven commitments for 2012. He led Plant City with 40 catches for 649 yards as a junior, with five touchdown receptions and another on a kickoff return.
Here's a great video interview from the Times' John C. Cotey from March, in which Wiggins says his top three were USF, Texas Tech and LSU and lists Florida and Florida State among his offers. With just 14 seniors on scholarship this fall, the Bulls could be halfway done with their recruiting class two months before football season starts.
