Bad to worse: Bonani misses 41-yarder

The more things change: New kicker Maikon Bonani missed a 41-yard field goal wide left, so USF remains down 10-0 early in the second quarter against Kansas.

The Bulls had their best drive of the game, with Matt Grothe finding A.J. Love for a 29-yard gain, then the drive getting a boost from a 15-yard facemask penalty on a Grothe sack. Mike Ford made his return after missing last week with an ankle injury, gaining 3 yards, but the drive stalled on two Grothe incompletions.

Bonani, a true freshman from Lake Wales, is taking over for junior Delbert Alvarado, who hit just one of four attempts in the first two games, including a miss on a 42-yard potential game-winner with 11 seconds left in regulation at Central Florida last week.
