Former USF pitcher Andrew Barbosa had made a strong impression in his first month of pro baseball, earning a promotion after just four starts with the Pioneer League's Missoula Osprey in Montana.

Barbosa, drafted into the Diamondbacks' minor-league system, has a 0.41 ERA in 22 innings, holding opponents to just nine hits and a .130 batting average. He's been promoted to the full-season Midwest League, where he'll play for the South Bend Silver Hawks. It's an impressive start for a 36th-round draft pick -- he had 13 strikeouts in earning his first pro victory on June 30.
