Baseball loses opener; softball drops two
USF's baseball team opened its 2011 season with a 7-2 loss at No. 1 Florida to start a three-game series in Gainesville -- we'll have a story up shortly, but here's the writeup from USF's official site. Freshman James Ramsay hit a solor home run in his Bulls debut, and first baseman Todd Brazeal had three hits to lead the Bulls.
And after a 4-0 start, USF's softball team has dropped three straight, scoring a total of two runs in the three losses. On Friday, USF took a 1-0 eight-inning loss to Fordham, with freshman Sara Nevins taking the complete-game loss. The Bulls had the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth but couldn't finish the rally. And in the night game, USF fell 6-2 to UAB, mustering only two hits against the Blazers.
