Basketball: USF men, women pick up wins

Strong day for USF basketball, as the Bulls' men's and women's teams picked up wins on Friday. USF's women, playing in Los Angeles, got a 63-53 win against Montana, which was an NCAA Tournament team last season, and USF's men's team got a career-high 27 points from Gus Gilchrist in a 78-58 rout of Florida Atlantic.

We'll have a story up shortly from the men's game, where correspondent Kerry Klecic is covering for the Times. The Bulls led 39-36 early in the second half before going on a 20-0 run to put the game away. Chris Howard had a season-high 15 points and Dominique Jones added 11 points and 10 assists. USF's women got 21 points from freshman KaNeisha Saunders and won despite not having senior guard Janae Stokes.
