Between practices, catching up on links ...



Lots to get to between USF's first two-a-day practices, starting with the transcript from Wednesday night's two-hour chat over at Lots of good questions there, and we'll have to do another one before too long ...

-- Here's a name I hadn't heard of -- one of the kickers competing at Florida A&M is a transfer from USF, Trevor Scott. Turns out he didn't play soccer or football for the Bulls, but could be the guy for the Rattlers.

-- Speaking of former Bulls, running back Ricky Ponton won't play at Georgia Southern, according to the Savannah Morning News, because of a knee injury.

-- Those Jim Leavitt quotes about Rich Rodriguez keep making the rounds. The Columbus Dispatch picked them up this week, though they don't mention where they came from ...

-- has its Big East preview, complete with a preseason all-conference team. Guard Ryan Schmidt is USF's only first-team pick on offense, while George Selvie and Tyrone McKenzie making it on defense. Second-team honors go to Matt Grothe, Mike Ford and Nate Allen. Rutgers' Tiquan Underwood as a tight end?

-- More on Stony Brook playing USF in 2010, from the Times Beacon Record in New York.

-- The Orlando Sentinel's UCF blog writes about Sports Illustrated's rankings and whether the Knights deserve to be rated as the state's sixth-best program. I'd like to see Central Florida and Florida Atlantic play a series -- FAU is much in the same boat with UCF as the Knights are with USF, trying to prove themselves worthy of comparisons to a team in a more established conference.

-- Two former Bulls go head-to-head tonight as the Texans (linebacker Ben Moffitt) and Broncos (running back Andre Hall) meet in their preseason opener ...
