Big East coaches pick USF 8th, honor Collins

Today is Big East men's basketball media day up in New York -- I'm not up there, but the league has sent out its preseason coaches poll, which has USF picked to finish 8th out of 15 teams, easily its highest expectations in its eight seasons in the conference.

What's more, Bulls point guard Anthony Collins was named to the league's preseason second-team all-conference, one of just three sophomores to earn a spot on the first two teams.

USF was also picked eighth Tuesday in a poll of 15 conference beat writers, and those projections validate USF as a team that should compete for a chance to return to the NCAA Tournament after making its first appearance in 20 years last spring.
