Big East hire shows TV's 'paramount importance'



Story in today's Times looks at the Big East's hiring of CBS Sports executive Mike Aresco and the central role that television plays not only in college football, but in the future stability of the Big East.

"I think this definitely is an aggressive move that says the Big East is serious about retaining its place at the big boys' table in college football," said author Keith Dunnavant, who wrote about the close relationship between TV and college football in his 2004 book, "The Fifty-Year Seduction."
