Breaking news: Ford enrolls at USF
Former Sarasota High running back Mike Ford has been admitted to USF and will be eligible to participate in spring practice, with four years of eligibility starting this fall.
"I'd hate to be a defensive back in the Big East making a tackle on the kid," said Bob Perkins, his coach at Sarasota. "His speed, his size, his power, it's a scary combination."
It's a major coup for USF's recruiting efforts, and the 6-foot-2, 220-pound running back will be a strong candidate to take the starting running back job this spring. Ford attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi this fall and spent last year at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. He signed with Alabama in 2005 but did not qualify academically.
