Bulls' Bogan loses rookie season to torn right ACL

Just as NFL camps are starting to get underway, former USF receiver Dontavia Bogan had a tough break to the start of his pro career, learning Monday that he will miss the 2011 season with a torn ACL in his right knee suffered during a 49ers practice on Sunday.

Bogan, who signed with the 49ers last week as an undrafted free agent, will be placed on injured reserve, which ends any chance of him playing but keeps him with the 49ers, giving him a redshirt season of sorts to learn San Francisco's offense and transition to the NFL. Bogan was USF's top receiver last season after setting the Bulls' kickoff-return records as a sophomore and junior.
