Bulls, 'Canes could meet in hoops, too
USF's home football game against Miami on Nov. 28 this fall is a milestone game in the Bulls' history, but it might not be the only time the Bulls and Hurricanes meet in November.
Both schools are among the eight men's basketball teams in the Charleston Classic, a tournament in South Carolina from Nov. 19-22. It's a bracketed tournament, so two of USF's three games will come down to the chance of who wins and who loses.
The last time USF and Miami met in men's hoops? All the way back to 1991 -- the Bulls and Hurricanes played home-and-home games for four years in a row from 1988-91, with Miami winning six of the eight meetings and USF taking the last two games in Tampa.
The rest of the field? Seven of eight teams have been confirmed -- USF, Miami, South Carolina, Penn State, UNC-Wilmington, Tulane and La Salle, along with a school from the Southern Conference. Opening-round matchups are expected to be announced Wednesday.
Add in a scheduled home game with Virginia and USF could play as many as four non-conference games against major-conference opponents, depending on the Bulls' draw in Charleston.
