Bulls in final four for top forward Vinson
Terrell Vinson, a national top 100 recruit from Baltimore who is ranked as the No. 2 unsigned small forward in the country, has USF among the four schools he's considering, his high school coach said Wednesday.
Vinson, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward rated as the nation's No. 81 overall prospect by Rivals.com, is still considering Massachusetts, Maryland, Cincinnati and USF, according to Mark Karcher, his coach at St. Frances Academy in Maryland.
Vinson signed with Loyola Marymount during the early signing period, but was granted a release after the head coach there resigned. Karcher said he took official visits to Villanova and Georgetown before signing with LMU, but is not considering those schools now.
Karcher said Vinson is a versatile player who played power forward at another Baltimore school, Montrose Christian, before coming to St. Frances, where he's played both shooting guard and small forward. Scout.com has him ranked as the nation's No. 2 unsigned power forward, but Karcher said Vinson intends to play small forward on the college level. Karcher said Vinson is comfortable shooting the 3-pointer, the mid-range jumper and can hold his own around the basket.
Vinson is unlikely to make any visits until St. Frances' season has ended, with a conference championship game Sunday and the Baltimore Catholic League playoffs next week. Check back for updates with Vinson and other Bulls basketball recruits ...
