Bulls to play Duke women, host Vols, Sooners
Everybody knows the best teams in college basketball will finish next season in Tampa at the Final Four. Some of the best will start the 2007-08 season in Tampa as well.
ESPN announced Saturday that the St. Pete Times Forum will host the "ESPNU Women's College Basketball Invitational" to open next season, with host USF getting a shot at Duke, and national powers Tennessee and Oklahoma going head-to-head in a one-day event Nov. 15.
Duke, which could lose coach Gail Goestenkors to Texas this week, spent much of this season undefeated and ranked atop both major polls, finishing the regular season 29-0 before making an early NCAA Tournament exit. Tennessee's Candace Parker and Oklahoma's Courtney Paris will be two of the nation's top players next season after earning Associated Press first-team All-American honors this week. The Vols and Sooners finished the regular season ranked fourth and 11th, respectively, in both polls, and Tennessee is alive in this week's Final Four in Cleveland.
