Busy Saturday for USF athletics ...

Hard to imagine a day more packed with USF athletic events. I'll blog live tonight from the men's basketball season finale in the Sun Dome against No. 19 Notre Dame, but there's plenty more going on between now and then.

Because of rain Friday night, baseball has a doubleheader against Savannah State, playing a rescheduled game at 2 p.m. and another game to follow 45 minutes after the first. Softball, playing in Clearwater this weekend, has Penn State at 2:30 and a much-awaited exhibition with the U.S. national team at 6:30 -- the star-studded equivalent of baseball facing the Yankees. With pitchers like Jennie Finch, Cat Osterman, Lisa Fernandez and Monica Abbott, every hit the Bulls get will be an accomplishment.

And finally, women's basketball has a first-round game in the Big East tournament, with the 11th-seeded Bulls facing sixth-seeded Syracuse in Hartford around 8 p.m. A win there would be huge for USF's chances at playing the Women's NIT, an accomplishment for a team that had a losing record and looked to be missing the Big East tournament just a few games ago ...

Also, men's tennis is home against Georgia State at 1 p.m., while women's tennis is at Seton Hall tonight.
