Coaching news! Coaching news!
I know, it's just mean at this point.
I can report that former USF basketball player Joi (Williams) Felton, head coach at Murray State the last four years, will be introduced today as the new women's basketball coach at Central Florida.
Felton, who was an assistant at Florida for 12 years, led the Racers to the Women's NIT this season. If Jose Fernandez were to leave the Bulls for another job -- and I'm not saying he is anytime soon -- I would have put Felton near the top of the list of potential replacements because of her connection to the school. It's not often the Bulls have a chance to hire an alum to coach a major sport -- softball coach Ken Eriksen is a good example, and if only on an interim basis, women's golf coach Kelly Lagedrost.
I'll have some notes on the men's coaching search later tonight. No new names, just some curious notes.
And former USF football player Javon Camon, who died after a severe hit during an indoor football game in Daytona Beach last month, will have his jersey retired by that team this weekend. Click here for more information about how they'll remember their fallen teammate. I'll have even more USF indoor football news later. (What a despicably tiny tease that is)
