Commitment issues? QB Woulard to visit N.C. State
Throughout USF's six-game losing streak, as two other top committed recruits backed away from the Bulls to re-open their recruiting, Winter Park quarterback Asiantii Woulard had remained firmly committed to signing with USF in February.
But Thursday morning brought disconcerting news for Bulls fans -- Woulard announced on Twitter that he is taking an official visit to N.C. State this weekend; while he still lists himself as being a USF commitment, it raises questions as to whether USF will be able to keep him until he can sign in February.
Woulard -- whose stock rose this summer when he was named MVP of ESPN's Elite 11 recruiting event in California -- hasn't commented beyond his posts on Twitter. Skip Holtz and his staff have been very careful not to do anything with other quarterbacks that might risk Woulard looking elsewhere, allowing other top targets to commit elsewhere this fall.
The Bulls present an enviable opportunity for immediate playing time, with four-year starter B.J. Daniels graduating and two backups with limited experience, redshirt freshman Matt Floyd and junior Bobby Eveld, returning for 2013. USF has lost QB commitments in each of the last two recruiting classes, with Stephen Weatherford opting to sign with Cincinnati (he's since left) in 2011 and Tyler Cameron choosing to sign with Wake Forest in January.
This could be a case of a recruit taking visits to make sure he's made the right decision, but it also could be the first steps toward what would be a disappointing loss at a crucial position in USF's 2013 recruiting class.
