East Lake QB DiNovo commits to UCF
USF's pursuit of a second quarterback for its Class of 2013 continues to take on new twists, as East Lake quarterback Pete DiNovo announced his commitment to Central Florida on Tuesday, one day after he reported a scholarship offer from USF.
DiNovo had turned heads with a strong 7-on-7 performance at IMG Academy over the weekend, which yielded his first in-state scholarship offer from UCF, then USF as well. The Bulls already have Winter Park's Asiantii Woulard committed for next season, but for the second time this week, a quarterback on their radar has committed elsewhere.
Cape Coral's Kurt Benkert committed to East Carolina -- USF had courted him, but was not accepting a potential commitment from him, knowing it would end their QB recruiting for the 2013 class. The Bulls clearly are confident in their abilities to land another top QB -- another of the state's top passers, John O'Korn, is committed to a future Big East rival in Houston.
The question now his how much DiNovo's commitment helps UCF land other talented members of the Team Tampa 7-on-7 contingent -- receiver Richard Benjamin could be the next Tampa-area talent headed to the east.
