ECU's Holtz on Twitter: 'Back at work today'
Where do things stand between USF and East Carolina coach Skip Holtz, who has expressed an interest in the Bulls' head coaching vacancy? If a recent post from Holtz on Twitter.com is any indication, his focus remains on the Pirates and his future there.
"Returned from AFCA Conv last night," he wrote late Wednesday morning. "Back at work today. First week of class for players...Getting ready for winter workouts next Tues."
Holtz said Tuesday that he was contacted by USF on Sunday to get a sense of his interest in the job, and he has publicly stated that he's interested in the Bulls job, both as a career move into a BCS conference and for family reasons, as his parents are in Orlando and his wife's family is in Port Charlotte.
-- Holtz has something else to deal with today, as news reports out of North Carolina say two prominent ECU football players, running back Brandon Jackson and cornerback Emanuel Davis, were arrested over the weekend. According to WITN TV, Davis faces charges of disorderly conduct and possession of alcohol under the age of 21, and Jackson has been charged with driving while intoxicated, underage consumption of alcohol, driving after consuming alcohol under the age of 21, resisting a public officer and being "intoxicated and disruptive."
Jackson, who ranked second on the team with 316 rushing yards, faces charges of being intoxicated and disruptive, resisting public officer, consuming alcohol by someone under 21, driving after consuming under the age of 21, and DWI. Davis, who ranked fifth on the team with 69 total tackles, is charged with disorderly conduct and possession of alcohol under the age of 21.
