Ex-Bulls Hall, Whittaker join UFL rosters
Two former USF football players have joined teams in the United Football League, with running back Andre Hall signing with the Omaha Nighthawks and receiver Huey Whittaker signing with the Florida Tuskers in Orlando.
Hall, who set several USF rushing records in 2004-05, hasn't played since he was cut by the Houston Texans in September. Whittaker just finished a strong season helping the Arena Football League's Spokane Shock to a league championship, with four touchdown catches in the ArenaBowl victory against Tampa Bay and 12 total scores in three playoff games. Whittaker was cut by the New York Jets this spring before signing with Spokane.
Both players join UFL teams with other USF ties -- Hall's Nighthawks have former Bulls defensive coordinator Joe Tresey as an assistant, and the Tuskers have three Bulls on roster -- QB Matt Grothe, safety J.R. Reed and defensive end Jarriett Buie.
