Former USF assistant Waters dead at 44
Former Philadelphia Eagles safety and USF assistant coach Andre Waters was found dead at his north Tampa home Monday morning, killed by a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, according to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office. He was 44.
Waters, who spent 12 seasons in the NFL and worked at USF from 1997-2000, just finished his first season as defensive coordinator at Fort Valley State in Georgia.
"He was always upbeat, always laughing in any situation, and that's why I'm totally in shock to hear this about Andre," said Rick Kravitz, who coached with Waters at USF for three seasons. "He was one that nothing would get to, who could find something good in whatever happened to him."
