Good afternoon from Bowling Green, Ky., where it is decidely sunny and plenty hot -- 82 degrees, with shadows from the west stands just starting to creep out to the near hash marks here.

Not only is this the smallest stadium USF will play in this season -- it's the longest-named by far, so if you have a minute, I'll welcome you to Jimmy Feix Field at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. Next time Western Kentucky spends $50-million to upgrade their football stadium, I'll chip in a few dollars toward installing air conditioning in the press box.

Remember we'll be chatting live here throughout the game -- I'll get a post up shortly to set that in motion -- and I'll get updates on who's here and so forth ...

-- Update: Coaches have said all week that there's a battle to see who will start opposite George Selvie, and the winner is junior David Bedford, who had a strong week of practice after getting one tackle in last week's win against Wofford. Expect lots of playing time for Jason Pierre-Paul, Craig Marshall and Patrick Hampton as well. The question is whether true freshman Ryne Giddins will play this week or not ...
