Grey OK: McGowan says USF worth waiting for

Just as we tell you two greyshirt offers went elsewhere, the Bulls land a 2008 recruit in West Boca tight end Mike McGowan, who said Wednesday he'd accepted USF's offer to defer enrollment and start classes in January.

McGowan, 6-4 and 255 pounds, is primarily a blocking tight end -- said he'd caught about 15 passes as a high school senior. He had traditional offers from Florida International and Florida Atlantic, both closer to home, but said a weekend visit to USF reassured him he was better offer waiting a semester and starting with the Bulls. He'd be USF's biggest tight end, but said he didn't think the Bulls would try to bulk him up to play tackle or shift him to defensive line.

McGowan will sign today, but he won't count toward USF's 25-man limit, rather becoming the first member counting toward next year's class.
