Grothe not among Bucs' minicamp signees

The three former USF players who took part in the Bucs' rookie minicamp this weekend -- quarterback Matt Grothe, tight end Ben Busbee and defensive end Aaron Harris -- were not among the five players initially given free-agent contracts by the team.

Of the 49 tryout players in the Bucs' camp, just five earned contracts Monday -- Clemson fullback Rendrick Taylor, Nebraska receiver Chris Brooks, Texas A&M guard Lee Grimes, Rutgers defensive end George Johnson and Georgia Southern cornerback Darrell Pasco.

Grothe's next logical step is the Canadian Football League, where the Saskatchewan Roughriders have his CFL negotiating rights. Saskatchewan did not select a quarterback in the CFL's draft of Canadian football players this weekend, which helps Grothe's chances at getting into camp with the Roughriders
