Gruden on USF football: 'We have great facilities'
If you watched any of former Bucs coach Jon Gruden's "Gruden QB Camp" shows on ESPNU in the past week, you've noticed the cameos by USF receivers working out with some of this year's elite NFL Draft quarterback prospects at the Bulls' new practice facility. You can see more of it on Thursday night on ESPN when all five QB shows are combined into one big production, and Gruden talked about USF's presence on the show during a conference call with reporters on Tuesday.
"It opened my eyes. We have great facilities here at USF -- brand-new practice setting. It's exciting for the USF Bulls, and we've got some good receivers. I think they benefited. I think it motivated those guys. They got excited to see Cam Newton one day, Blaine Gabbert the next, Andy Dalton down the road, etc., to Ryan Mallett and Jake Locker. It did give us some consistency as we worked the quarterbacks out with really good receivers who were able to run the patterns at full speed to give us a relative look that we need to see to make the evaluation."
It's funny to hear Gruden repeatedly use "we" in reference to USF football -- if you check out this video on the Bulls' official site, you'll hear him do the same thing there. ...
