Heath: Famous should be able to play Saturday
To update the knee injury to USF junior center Jarrid Famous suffered in Monday's practice -- USF coach Stan Heath is optimistic about Famous playing Saturday at home against St. John's, but said he will undergo a magnetic resonance imaging exam today to make sure there is no more damage than initially believed.
"He and Alex (Rivas) got tangled up, and next thing you know, he said 'Coach, I can't go," Heath said. "We looked at it, saw he had a limited range of movement and was really in a lot of pain. We feel pretty good. The doctors looked at it today and they feel pretty good that it's a slight meniscus, something he should be able to play with on Saturday. He's going to get a full MRI (today) to make sure there's nothing else there."
-- Lots of Skip Holtz links from the Orlando Sentinel -- first, a good Q&A from Holtz's comments on Sunday at the Daytona 500. And columnist Mike Bianchi seems to like the transition from Jim Leavitt to Holtz:
"Holtz, if you couldn't tell, is my new favorite college football coach in the state," Bianchi writes. "Why? Because he makes my job easy, that's why. He's friendly and fun. He's accessible and approachable."
