Heath hires Andy Hipsher to complete staff
USF men's basketball coach Stan Heath has completed his coaching staff, announcing Friday the hiring of Andy Hipsher -- son of former Bulls assistant Dan Hipsher -- as director of basketball operations.
Hipsher, who played for his father at Akron from 1999-2004, was most recently an assistant at Western Michigan and spent two seasons as a graduate assistant on Bobby Knight's staff at Texas Tech.
"I'm excited to have Andy join our staff," Heath said in a statement. "He's a multi-talented young coach, who will work extremely well with my coaches and players. His previous experiences have prepared him well to have an immediate impact on our program."
Hipsher, who will make $60,000 in his new position, replaces former USF guard and assistant Tommy Tonelli, who stepped down this month to return as head coach at Wharton High, where he coached before joining Heath's staff two years ago. Three of Heath's top four assistants will be new this coming season, with Jeremy Cox and Eric Skeeters joining the Bulls this summer, replacing Dan Hipsher and Byron Samuels.
