Heath talks Rudd, NBA Draft on radio

20

March

USF men's basketball coach Stan Heath was on 620 WDAE AM in Tampa on Tuesday morning, and he addressed Monday night's news that sophomore Victor Rudd was testing the waters of the NBA Draft. Here's what Heath had to say with Ron and Ian on 620:

"We had a conversation yesterday. He told me what he was thinking a little bit, and I told him a little bit of how I felt and where I thought things were. It's my job right now to do some homework for him, do some research and really find out where the situation is. We all have opinions, as certainly do I. None of our opinions really matter. What really matters is there are 30 teams out there that have a draft choice. They'll probably have two over the first and second-round period. We've got to find out what those people are thinking.

"If they're thinking that hey, he's got a chance, that he's draftable, then Vic will probably decide to do something like that. Right now, if people are saying he needs a little more time, Vic will be back. It's our job to do a little homework and find some things out. It's very normal to me. I know it's atypical for a lot of people that this happens. When your team has a little bit of success, all these kids want to get to that next level, and to find out what people think, I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
